Fair Trade Market
This event has already taken place
The Human Concerns Commission is hosting Saint Clement's Seventh Annual Fair Trade Market on Sunday, November 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Fireside Hall, located in the Saint Clement School.
The Fair Trade Market will feature roughly 20 fair trade vendors who work with artisans from third world countries. Fair Trade is an alternate business model that guarantees 1) workers receive just wages for their work, 2) workers work in safe working conditions, 3) the environment is protected during the production process, and 4) there is no child labor.
As consumers, we have the power to improve the lives of producers around the world by choosing fair trade. As Catholics, we have an opportunity to live out our faith more fully as fair trade aligns with the Catholic social teachings of option for the poor and vulnerable, dignity of work, the rights of workers, solidarity, and care for God's creation. Due to the improved wages with fair trade, many workers are able to educate their children which can help break the cycle of poverty.
This year's vendors will be offering fair trade products including jewelry, accessories, home decor, wine, coffee, and other edibles. We hope you will join us to get an early start on your holiday shopping while helping to improve the lives of producers and artisans around the world!
